Mahtani Group of Companies is an enormous association owned by Dr. Rajan Mahtani and has some of the most promising heavy scale units of Zambia, Africa. Recently, the cement factory found wide attention when it surpassed the estimated output by 1, 00, 000 tonnes. This has made the cement factory as one of the top performers in the heavy scale sector in Zambia.
Per day output of the Zambezi Portland Cement Factory is close to producing 1, 000 tonnes of cement along with the annual capacity to produce 3, 60, 000 tonnes. The total production figure for the year 2014 stands at 4, 73, 985 tonnes, which is almost 130% of the estimated capacity. A rapid increase in the demand for cement was caused due to the Ndola Housing Project that involved construction of 71 houses for locals who lost their existing land on account of development programs in Ndola. The initiative to build a better home for the people was taken Dr. Rajan Mahtani and all materials, including cement was supplied by Mahtani Group of Companies at zero cost.
The cement factory produces some of the best quality of cement in Africa and its production technique has also been acknowledged with a ZS ISO 9001:2008 certification by ZABS (Zambia Bureau of Standards). The incident has motivated Dr. Mahtani to build a new lime plant in Masaiti very soon.
