Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani is a noted businessman and philanthropist in Zambia. For more than three decades, Dr. Mahtani has been working towards the growth and development of the Zambian nation. Dr. Mahtani owned Mahtani Group of Company recently shared an eulogy on the sad demise of Kenneth Kaunda, the first President of Zambia. Kenneth Kaunda was a spectacular public figure in Zambia. He was regarded as the ‘Independence Hero’ of Zambia’ but also the ‘Father of the Nation and African Union’. Considering the significant contributions made by late Kenneth Kaunda, it is extremely difficult to rival or equal his principles and exemplary life. Dr. Kaunda believed that everyone was equal before god and was a selfless person. He always kept others before himself and was known for his significant sacrificial engagement. Amongst family and friends, he was known as a pianist, guitarist, writer, footballer, poet, dancer as well as family person.
Dr. Rajan Mahtani and Dr. Kaunda share several similarities. In fact, their bond started with late Lekhraj Mahtani, who was a councillor in Ndola during the time of Dr. Kaunda fight for independence and provided significant support and collaboration. Both Dr. Rajan Mahtani and Kenneth Kaunda have faced significant challenges in performing their duties as well as allegations from unethical parties. All of these allegations have been proven false with both these proud Zambian citizens fighting for their integrity and living a simple yet exemplary life by god’s grace. As such, Dr. Mahtani in his eulogy also said that both Dr. Mahtani and Dr. Kaunda shared some similar fate together.
The late Kenneth Kaunda left Zambia with a significant legacy and it is on the shoulders of the young Zambians to continue living up to the ideals established by him, mainly Pan-Africanism as well as unity. Kenneth Kaunda is responsible for uniting the Zambia and taking it forward and it is the legacy we much follow to achieve the path of greatness.
