Dr. Rajan Mahtani is a noted businessman and philanthropist in Zambia. For more than three decades, Dr. Mahtani has been working towards the growth and development of the Zambian nation. At the same time, Dr. Mahtani is known for charitable and philanthropic contributions towards Zambia. Dr. Mahtani recently received the sad news of demise of Kenneth Kaunda and shared this news to the Zambians via an Eulogy in his name. Kenneth Kaunda is a name which is synonymous with honesty, struggle, passion, commitment and dedication. Kenneth Kaunda was not only the most significant Independence Hero of Zambia, he was also the first President of Zambia. He was known as the ‘Father of the Zambian nation & African Union’ for his significant contributions towards Zambian freedom and development.
Dr. Mahtani shared a special bond with the Kaunda family, via his own father, Late Lekhraj Mahtani. Dr. Rajan Mahtani’s father was a noted Ndola-based councillor and provided the much needed support and collaboration to Dr. Kaunda in his fight for Zambian freedom. Dr. Mahtani and Dr. Kaunda share many similar traits. It is very difficult to rival or equal the exemplary and principled life which Dr. Kenneth Kaunda lived and Dr. Mahtani is one of the those few businessmen and people across Zambia who is known to follow his principles and philosophies. Dr. Kaunda was known to have significant faith in god and believed that each one is treated equally before god. He was a selfless person who put others before self. Even as the President of Zambia, Kenneth Kaunda practiced sacrifice and dedication and put the development and growth of the Zambian citizen before anything else.
Dr. Mahtani in his eulogy urged each Zambian citizen to wake up as it is time to reignite this legacy of Dr. Kenneth Kaunda. He was the first president of Zambia and its Independence hero. It is time for the Zambians to follow his legacy of ‘One Zambia, One Nation’ as well as Pan-Africanism.
