Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani was recently awarded with the prestigious Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ awards. This award was presented to him during the Forbes-FIN (Foreign Investment Network) Philanthropic and Leadership Roundtable conference. This roundtable conference was held online on 6th August 2021 via a virtual meeting, in which Dr. Rajan Mahtani was also an honorary speaker. Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani is one of the most respected and celebrated businessman in Zambia. It was time an international organization such as Forbes recognises the numerous contributions from Dr. Rajan Mahtani towards development and empowerment of the Zambian nation as well as the African continent. Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani was presented with the Forbes ‘Outstanding Entrepreneur of the year’ award 2021 for his significant contributions towards redefining the financial and banking sector of Zambia.
Dr. Rajan Mahtani is the present Chairman of the Mahtani Group of Companies, a company he founded in the year 1981. The company quickly transformed into a conglomerate reaching several locations such as South Africa, Malawi and United Kingdom as well as expanding its business to several sectors such as agriculture, energy, mining, finance & insurance as well as real estate. Apart from his business contributions, Dr. Rajan Mahtani is also noted for his significant philanthropic and charitable contributions. He is the founder of Prison Fellowship Zambia, a program aimed towards supporting and caring for inmates, ex-inmates as well as their families. Dr. Rajan Mahtani believes that a nation can only become great if the lowest strata of people are given the opportunity to become law abiding citizens. As such, the program also aims towards advocating for fair justice system for these inmates. Also, he is the founder of Stephen Malama award which includes a scholarship program along with financial benefits for top graduating law candidate from Zambia.
After receiving the award, Dr. Rajan Mahtani thanked god for his significant support and blessings which helped Dr. Rajan Mahtani achieve significant heights despite the various tribunals, trials and challenges. He also thanked his team for their contributions.
