Every time a noble and honest businessman tries to achieve something, there are tens of people coming in his or her path to obstruct the success. These conspirators are either looking for personal profits or are just jealous of someone achieving results by following a honest and truthful path. The case of Portland Cement Zambia in the Republic of Zambia depicts a same story. Dr. Rajan Mahtani is a claimed owner of the factory, according to whom; the factory was illegally taken from him by goons. After this event, he registered a case at the Lusaka High Court. While Dr. Rajan Mahtani had almost all of the evidences to successfully prove his claim over the factory, it has been ten years since the launch of the case and even with the recent announcement of the final judgement, judgement has not been given.
The judge handling the case made an announcement few months back. It was closure of case hearing and final announcement of case results based on the evidence submitted by both parties. While it was positive news for Dr. Mahtani, the final judgment does not resonate the announcement made few months back. Instead, the final verdict being given against Dr. Rajan Mahtani’s claims is a clear indication that the evidences and testimonials submitted by him were clearly ignored and speculations are that the judgement was misdirected. This was certainly devastating news for Dr. Mahtani and his lawyers who were positively expecting winning news from the court. However, Dr. Rajan Mahtani is not the type of person who gets dejected and has shown courage and patience with his next step. After the final announcement, Dr. Rajan Mahtani quickly made an appeal to the higher court of appeal against the judgment made at the Lusaka High Court.
As of now, reply is awaited from the higher court of appeal.
