Dr. Rajan Mahtani, a celebrated businessperson and philanthropist from Zambia, was one of the recipients of the notable Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ awards. Dr. Rajan Mahtani, who is known for his successful business ventures as well as philanthropic and charitable contributions towards Zambia over the years, was selected by Forbes after the latter recognised the contributions in business and philanthropy spanning more than four decades. Forbes recognised the contributions made by Dr. Rajan Mahtani over the past four decades and conferred him with the Forbes ‘Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year’ award 2021. Dr. Rajan Mahtani accepted the award in a humble manner. He thanked Almighty God for his strength and support during challenging times. He also thanked his team for their innumerable support that helped in achieving success across his businesses. Dr. Rajan Mahtani was the only major businessperson from entire Zambia who was conferred with an international award for philanthropy at an international level.
The Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ award ceremony was part of the Forbes-FIN philanthropy and leadership roundtable conference. This conference is held annually with the objective of discussing about the critical issues within the African nation as well as generating financial support in the form of funds and capital for ongoing and future projects across Africa. The Forbes-FIN philanthropy event was held virtually to comply with the ongoing covid-19 pandemic restrictions. Members participating in the event included members from international business communities, spiritual leaders, religious leaders, opinion leaders, international investors, and media partners. It should be noted here that Dr. Rajan Mahtani was also invited in this event as an honorary speaker and discussed about the significance of leadership in healthcare.
Forbes recognised the contributions made by Dr. Mahtani towards redefining the banking sector of Zambia. He was also recognised for his several philanthropic and charitable contributions, including Prison Fellowship Zambia and Stephen Malama award and scholarship for top law graduates in Zambia.
